Cuts n’ Slices: A Slice of Potential or Just a Slice of Disappointment?

Hey there, foodies! 🌟

I recently ventured into the bustling streets of Brooklyn to check out the much-talked-about “Cuts n’ Slices,” located on Howard Ave between Halsey and Hancock. With it’s bold concept and innovative menu, I was ready to dive into what promised to be a culinary adventure. But, as they say, not all that glitters is gold!

The First Impression

Walking into Cuts n’ Slices, I was immediately drawn to the vibrant atmosphere and the tantalizing aroma wafting through the air. The decor is casual yet inviting—a perfect spot for a quick bite. I was excited to try one of their signature dishes: the curry oxtail pizza. I mean, who wouldn’t be intrigued by the fusion of Caribbean flavors on a classic pizza? 🍕✨

The Curry Oxtail Pizza: A Major Letdown

However, my excitement quickly dwindled when I took my first bite. The pizza arrived looking promising, but upon closer inspection, it was clear that the execution fell short. The crust was rock-hard, likely a victim of sitting too long and being reheated. I had hoped for a warm, chewy base, but instead, I was met with a dry, unyielding dough that made it difficult to enjoy.

As for the star of the show—the curry oxtail—there was barely a trace of meat. What I received was an oily sauce that lacked the robust flavor I was anticipating. Sure, the curry sauce had a nice kick, but it was swimming in grease, making it less appealing. The oxtail itself seemed more like an afterthought, with just a few scraps scattered throughout. I wanted to love this dish; I really did! But it felt like a missed opportunity, especially for the price point.

The Bottom Line

While I appreciate the creativity behind Cuts n’ Slices, the execution of the curry oxtail pizza left much to be desired. The concept is undeniably dope, and I can see the potential for greatness, but the product needs some serious work. For the price of each individual slice, I expected a more satisfying experience.

In the end, I’d rate my visit a 3/10. If you’re curious, give it a shot, but don’t say I didn’t warn you! Here’s hoping that Cuts n’ Slices can refine their offerings and elevate their game, because this nyc girl is rooting for them! 💔

Until next time, happy eating! 🍽️✨
